Dine Out for Africa: Buy a Cow, Save a Village

Patio Relief: Dine Out for Africa
Every night this week until Saturday, July 14, 2007

Please join us this week until Saturday, July 14 when we will be donating 25% of all food sales to help build sustainable communities in Africa through zero-grazing cattle programs which do not negatively impact the environment. $500 buys a cow and a future for a family.

Please call 604-687-5885 to make a reservation.

The B.E.S.T [Building Economically Sustainable Tomorrows] program in Uganda and Tanzania allows women to own their own cows and so earn enough income to feed and educate their children. With funds from Global Partners for Development, these women are building successful, self-sustaining families and communities.

The unique feature of the B.E.S.T. program is that each woman passes along the living gift of the first-born calf to another woman in the community, who, in turn, passes on her first-born calf. When all the women of one community have a cow, they reach out to another group and begin the process all over again.

Since 1989, Global Partners for Development has been working in the East African countries of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, with projects that have included development of clean water sources, child nutrition, medical and health care, primary and vocational education, and women's economic self-reliance. This is our last week at LK. Look for Chef Travis Williams and the crew at the Cascade Room, a new venture on Main Street opening early August.

We thank our guests so much for their patronage and wish the best to everyone in the future. The developing world beckons.

Vaya con Dios.
